Voices of Olympia Canada school competition themes align with the goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This second edition reflected one of the UN review themes which were debated at the Sixty Third Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63) held in New York on March 2019 :
«Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development»
Participants to this competition were invited to reflect on the following:
Feminization of poverty persists and remains an impediment to the empowerment of women and girls, for, according to UN sources, the number of people living in multidimensional poverty has reached 1.6 billion. As the world is getting ready to commemorate in 2019 the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child you, High School student, will analyze the impact of poverty on the empowerment of women and the development of girls in Canada. You will use evidence to explain how access to education can help eradicate a specific dimension of poverty you have chosen to study.

First prize
The first prize was awarded to the Collège International Marie de France team, composed of : Thaïs Derosiaux, Athena Nikolis and Harmonie -Toscane Saint-Pierre-Delhaye, for their project: Raconte - moi une histoire, Raconte - moi ton histoire.
Second prize
The second prize was awarded to La Villa Sainte - Marcelline team, composed of : Annette Hong Kim and Clara Goddard, for their project: Les femmes sans abri : dormir sous des étoiles éteintes.
Third prize
The third prize was awarded to La Villa Sainte Marcelline team, composed of: Alicia Assayag, Nakissa Barin, Emilia Beauchamp and Alexandra Théagène, for their project: La pauvreté économique chez les familles monoparentales dirigées par une femme au Canada.
